BAM Portal Installation on Windows 7 64-bit

BAM Portal installation on Windows 7 64-bit is some what trickey but it is fun to configure. First let’s have a look at scenario. My machine is having Windows 7 64-bit operating system and BizTalk Server 2006 Developer Edition x86. During BizTalk Server Configuration, you may get the following errors :

Failed to validate BAM Portal Web Site
and (or)
The BAM Portal website Default Web Site is not valid
and (or)
IIS is not 32-bit enabled

When you get these kind of error, surely BAM portal will not be installed in IIS. Reason is that Business Activity Monitoring (BAM) portal components must run in IIS using 32-bit ASP.NET 3.5. BAM Portal will run on 64-bit hardware in WOW mode. Windows x64 provides the ability to run both 32-bit and 64-bit executables on the same computer. 32-bit executables use the WOW64 service to emulate a 32-bit runtime environment.

Do the following:
Go to BizTalk Server Configuration and click ‘BAM Portal’. Enter user account for BAM Management Web Service User and BAM Application Pool Account and Click ‘Apply Configuration’. Complete the wizard by pressing ‘Next’ and then ‘Finish’.

Go to IIS and expand Default Web Site. Now you will be able to see BAM portal.
